Fangirl Friday

What's up you guys??? This has been a great week for me for fangirling, so let's dive right in!

Show of the Week

Comedy Bang! Bang!

I was initially resistant to the idea of this show because I'm such a huge fan of the podcast and I wasn't sure that the magic from the original show could be replicated in televised format. I was, thankfully, very wrong about that. This show is ridiculous, insane, hysterical, weird, off-beat, heartfelt, and fun. There is no way of knowing what's coming next in this satirical talk show which makes each episode a new adventure.

Spin-Off of the Week

Better Call Saul

Another show I was wary about. HOW could a spin-off of Breaking Bad, no doubt one of the best shows to come out EVER, be any good? Yes, it was starring a great character, played by a stellar actor, and it was the original writing and directing team coming back. And... it works. Better Call Saul is it's own show entirely. It does take place in the Breaking Bad universe but it is wholly its own thing. Weirdly, it's on British Netflix so I've been able to watch it there and I'm so glad I gave it a try. It's shaping up to be the best show of the year for me, thus far.

Work-Out of the Week

After I finished my 30 Days of Yoga with Yoga with Adriene, I decided to peruse her Facebook page to see if there was anything else I could do to keep my momentum going. I came across an article that she had posted on her page about some of the best YouTube exercise channels. It referenced Yoga with Adriene, FitnessBlender (whom I love), and one I hadn't heard of: Blogilates. Since I liked the other two suggestions so much, I decided to give Blogilates a try.

Holy cow. These videos are fun, fast-paced and HARD! Luckily, Cassey Ho, creator of Blogilates, has a beginner's guide that I'm following. I've done 6 days of it so far and I'm loving it. I'd been wanting to get more cardio in my life and this has been an awesome way to do it. The videos are short, which I also love, as I find I'm working harder since there's less of the exercise to actually do. I highly recommend checking her stuff out. Plus she's adorable and bubbly so she's very enjoyable to follow.

Song of the week

Uma Thurman by Fall Out Boy

Okay, I defy anyone to not break into song and dance when you hear this song. With a sampling of the Munsters theme song (with a bit of Miserlou influence for good luck), this song is ridonculously catchy and I'm obsessed with all the Vines that people have created with their pets bobbing along to this fun tune. Seriously, guys, Fall Out Boy just keeps getting better and better, something that I wasn't sure was possible. This whole album is very strong and I will soon be writing up an American Beauty/American Psycho song-by-song review with my one-time (soon to be multi-time) collaborator Sam, one of FOB's biggest fans.

Author of the Week

Terry Pratchett

It gets a little sad here. Terry Pratchett, fantasy author extraordinaire, died yesterday. He was only 66. I've been a fan of Pratchett's since I read his collaboration with Neil Gaiman in Good Omens. I'm always on the look-out for funny fantasy and sci-fi because it's so hard to be found. Pratchett was the expert, using humour and satire and weaving it through a high fantasy universe in his Discworld series. The inventiveness of Pratchett is undeniable and he will be missed. I was given most of the Discworld series by a family friend and I decided today to pick up where I left off with Wyrd Sisters. RIP Terry Pratchett.

And that's it! What are you guys loving this week?

Later days!
