I like things and this is where I talk about the things that I like.

Top Four Squee-Worthy Things from the Week of August 15th, 2014

It's been awhile *Scott-Aukerman-Staind-voice* since I did one of these and since it's Friday, and I'm a fangirl, I figured it was time for another Fangirl Friday. Here are the four things that are turning my crank this week.

Battle Scars - Paradise Fears

I recently went to a Paradise Fears concert, a band that I was introduced to by my lovely friend Sam, and I now cannot stop listening to the title track off of their latest album Battle Scars. It's beautiful, catchy, and has an uplifting message. Highly recommend checking them out.

Toronto Weather

Weird but true. I am totally fangirling over the summer that we Torontonians have experienced this year. If this is the reward we get for enduring the hell-on-Earth winter we recently had, then I am all for it. I have never taken as much advantage of a summer than this one, mostly because I'm not sweating through all of my clothing. Good on you, global warming.

Hanx Writer

Hanx Writer is a new app created by Tom Hanks (yes, that Tom Hanks) that allows the look and sound of writing on a typewriter without the pesky business of actually getting a typewriter. (I'm actually writing this post on it now. The clicks and dings are making me very happy.) It's kitschy and adorable and I love it. The one issue is that it only saves as PDF and not as any kind of word document. Still, the fun factor is strong, so I'll let that slide.

William Beckett

William Beckett and his band The Academy Is... were a big part of my high school experience. I was lucky enough to see them perform way back in 2008 and it was a glorious time. My fanaticism faded over the years, as fanaticism tends to do, but William Beckett just happened to be at that concert I mentioned up above and I saw him again for the first time in 6 years. All those fuzzy feelings came back, especially when I got a chance to meet him and speak face to face about how much I appreciate his music. He also got real good with retweeting my pictures on Twitter, to the point where my Twitter feed got over 5000 hits (and he was very good about giving me credit for my work). Creativity feeds creativity and I'm very grateful for his impact on me this week.

So that's all for this week. Anything I should be checking out so I can add to my fangirling ways? Comments are love!
